This was disclosed in a statement issued by the state Commissioner for Transport, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, on Monday.

Osiyemi noted that the rehabilitation was executed by the state Ministry of Works, and it commenced on Monday, July 22, 2024.

The commissioner said the rehabilitation would ease movement and traffic flow between the Mainland and Island.

The tweet read, “We are delighted to inform all road users that the rehabilitation of the Odo Iya Alaro Bridge, executed by the Ministry of Works, Lagos, has been completed ahead of schedule.

“The bridge will be reopened today, significantly earlier than the initial 90-day timeline, with the work accomplished in under two months.

“We deeply appreciate the patience and cooperation of Lagosians during this period. Your willingness to navigate alternative routes, despite the challenges, played a key role in ensuring the swift progress of this important project.

“This rehabilitation will enhance traffic flow and ease movement between the Mainland and the Island. We also extend our gratitude to the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) for their exceptional work in managing traffic during this time.”

Osiyemi appreciated the residents of the state for their “continued support in the development of our city.”

At the reopening, the deputy governor, Obafemi Hamzat, read the riot act to vandals and scavengers, warning them of the dangers and consequences of damaging government property.
