Popular Nigerian Islamic singer, Rukayat Gawat Oyefeso, has passed away.

The late singer was known for her enchanting voice and religious music that resonated with the Muslim community, her death has left many in mourning.
Ilorin-based cleric, Alfa Aribidesi At-Tawdeeh announced the news on Tuesday morning on his official Facebook page.

It was reported that a Solatul Janazah (Prayer for the Dead) was held earlier on Tuesday in Ojota, Lagos State. During the prayer, it was announced that the final prayer and burial would take place in Ijebu Aiyepe, Ogun State, at noon.
Her brother, Jubril Gawat, Senior Special Assistant on New Media to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, shared a Quran verse on his X account, writing, “Indeed we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return.” (Quran 2:156). His post has attracted widespread condolences from followers and associates.
Rukayat Gawat Oyefeso was widely admired for her captivating voice and religious music, which resonated deeply with the Muslim community. It was also noted that on September 14, 2024, the late singer held a 12-year remembrance for her father, the renowned Islamic presenter Aremu Gawat, who has been missing since July 2012.
