Akeem Akanni, a former midfielder for Sporting Lagos, marked his debut for Kwara United with a goal in their 1-1 draw against Bayelsa United on Matchday 4 of the Nigeria Professional Football League in Yenagoa.

Akanni, who joined Kwara United for the new season, scored in the 66th minute, putting the Ilorin-based club ahead at the Samson Siasia Stadium. He expressed his excitement after the match, stating he had a premonition of scoring, which he documented in his diary and later shared on X (formerly Twitter).

Bayelsa United equalized in the 80th minute thanks to another debutant, Yahaya Ibrahim, ensuring both teams shared the points.

Currently, Kwara United and Bayelsa United sit 16th and 17th in the league standings, both with two draws and one loss after four games.

Kwara United will face league leaders Remo Stars on Saturday in Matchday 5, looking for their first win of the season, while Bayelsa United travels to Enugu to take on defending champions Enugu Rangers, who suffered a 2-1 defeat to Remo Stars in Gameweek 4.
