The Nigerian Army has successfully dealt a significant blow to terrorist groups across the country, neutralizing eight terrorists and rescuing 40 abducted individuals in a series of coordinated operations.
In a statement released on Monday, the Army detailed that the operations spanned Nasarawa, Kaduna, Borno, and Yobe states.
In Kaduna, precision strikes led to the elimination of one terrorist, followed by further engagements that neutralized two others. Troops also recovered a locally made firearm and ammunition.
In Borno, operations resulted in the recovery of two AK-47 rifles, ammunition, hard drugs, and supplies abandoned by fleeing terrorists. Additionally, in Gwoza Local Government Area, three terrorists were neutralized near Ashigashiya village, while troops in Kukawa Local Government Area intercepted terrorists and rescued 38 hostages, including six men, eight women, and 24 children.
In Yobe, a successful ambush in Sasawa village resulted in the neutralization of one terrorist and the recovery of an AK-47 rifle and a motorcycle.
Meanwhile, in Nasarawa, troops arrested a notorious arms courier, seizing 303 live rounds of ammunition and apprehending the suspect along with their vehicle.
The Chief of Army Staff commended the troops for their courage and thanked citizens for providing vital information, reaffirming the military’s commitment to eradicating terrorism and safeguarding the nation.
