Gunmen have abducted and killed Bako Bala, the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Suru Local Government Area of Kebbi State. According to Zaidu Bala, the Special Adviser to the Kebbi Governor on Television and Radio, the armed assailants kidnapped Bala in his hometown, shot him, and left him bleeding.
Bala was quickly transported to the Federal Medical Centre in Birnin Kebbi, where he sadly succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday.
Kebbi State has been grappling with increasing banditry, with another incident reported in Matseri village under Bunza Local Government Area, where bandits allegedly kidnapped an individual and shot a young man who is now receiving treatment at the same medical facility in Birnin Kebbi.
Efforts to contact Nafiu Abubakar, spokesperson for the Kebbi State Police Command, for comments on these incidents were unsuccessful.
For years, Nigerian forces have been combating criminal gangs, known as bandits, that have been terrorizing communities in northwestern and central Nigeria. These gangs are notorious for raiding villages, abducting residents for ransom, and committing acts of violence, including murder and arson.
