“This is a misrepresentation of what I said,” Keyamo stated in a correction issued on October 8, 2024. “The correct position is that the Airline Operators of Nigeria voluntarily decided they would patronize Dangote Refinery for their purchase of Jet A1 fuel. The claim that the Federal Government approves Dangote Refinery as the sole supplier is simply not true.”

Keyamo emphasized that the government has not imposed any mandates, stressing that the decision was made by the airline operators themselves. “It was a collective decision by the operators, not a directive from the government,” he added.

He also reiterated that while the federal government supports local transactions in Naira to ease pressure on foreign currency reserves, there is no exclusive arrangement favoring any single supplier. The clarification aims to dispel any confusion or misinterpretation regarding the fuel supply arrangement for the aviation sector.
