A tragic incident occurred in Oshodi, Lagos, on Saturday as a 50-year-old man, identified only as Emmanuel, was fatally struck by a moving train near Arena Shopping Mall.

According to reports, the man’s sister received a distressing call around 9 a.m. informing her of the tragic accident.

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident, stating that the Mosafejo Division was alerted at 1:33 p.m., prompting a swift response from a team of detectives who were dispatched to the scene.

The case has since been transferred to the Railway Police Command in Ebute Metta for further investigation.

While the exact circumstances surrounding Emmanuel’s death are still unclear, this marks the second tragic railway incident in recent months.

In August, a similar accident occurred in the Mushin area, where a man was crushed by a train while walking along the Cappa railway tracks.

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) confirmed that the victim in that case died instantly due to the severe impact.

Authorities continue to urge residents to exercise caution around railway tracks to prevent further tragedies.
