The Rivers State Government has approved a new minimum wage of N85,000 for civil servants.
This decision was announced by the state’s Head of Service, George Nwaeke, after Governor Siminalayi Fubara approved it during a closed-door meeting with labour leaders and top government officials.

Following the meeting, Nwaeke confirmed that the new minimum wage would be implemented immediately.
In response, the Chairman of the Joint Negotiation Team, Chukwu Emecheta, commended Governor Fubara for fulfilling the expectations of Rivers State workers and expressed gratitude for his dedication to their welfare.

The Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in Rivers State, Alex Agwanwor, also lauded the Governor’s efforts, emphasizing that the new minimum wage will significantly ease the economic challenges faced by the workers.
