President Cyril Ramaphosa is set to travel to Russia today to participate in the upcoming BRICS summit. During the event, he will meet bilaterally with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
This summit marks a significant moment as it is the first since the bloc’s recent expansion, now representing 43% of the world’s population and 27% of global GDP.
Putin aims to leverage the summit to bolster Russia’s standing and has urged BRICS members to consider using national currencies for trade among themselves.
