The U-19 team bus of Nigerian football club, Kano Pillars FC was involved in an accident on Tuesday morning while traveling to Jos, Plateau State, for a match against Plateau United U-19.

According to a statement from the club’s media department, several players and the bus driver were injured in the accident and are currently receiving medical care.

The statement read: “With deep sadness, we announce that the Kano Pillars FC U-19 team bus was involved in a road accident today while en route to the New Jos Stadium for their Matchday 5 fixture in the inaugural U-19 Youth League against Plateau United U-19. Several players and the driver sustained injuries and have been promptly taken to the hospital for medical attention.

Thankfully, no fatalities have been reported, and the medical team is closely monitoring the situation. We extend our heartfelt thoughts and prayers to everyone affected and will provide further updates as more information becomes available.”

This incident is reminiscent of a similar accident in June, when the team bus of Doma United, a football club based in Nasarawa State, was involved in an accident along the Makurdi-Lafia Expressway in Benue.
The Doma United bus lost control and somersaulted several times, though no lives were lost. However, some players sustained injuries and were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
