Ademola Lookman and Victor Osimhen have been nominated for the 2024 International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS) Men’s World Best Player Award.
The two Nigerian stars are the only African players featured on the prestigious shortlist. Lookman earned his spot thanks to his standout performances for Serie A club Atalanta, where he played a pivotal role in their UEFA Europa League triumph last season.

The 27-year-old winger netted a historic hat-trick in Atalanta’s 3-0 victory over Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen in the final. Additionally, Lookman scored three goals in seven matches for Nigeria during the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
Osimhen, currently on loan at Galatasaray from Napoli, also made waves with his impressive form last season, scoring 15 goals in 25 league appearances for Napoli. The prolific striker was also a key figure in Nigeria’s AFCON 2023 campaign.

Last year’s IFFHS award winner, Manchester City’s Erling Haaland, is also among the nominees for this year’s award.
