The All Progressives Congress (APC) has secured victories in all 13 chairmanship seats in the recently concluded local government elections in Nasarawa State, alongside 140 out of 147 councillorship positions across the wards.
Chairman of the Nasarawa State Independent Electoral Commission (NASIEC), Barrister Ayuba Usman, announced the results on Sunday at the Commission’s headquarters in Lafia. According to Usman, the APC candidates won all 13 chairmanship positions and claimed 140 councillorship seats. The Social Democratic Party (SDP) won five councillorship positions, while the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) secured two.
The detailed results for the chairmanship seats are as follows: Lafia (217,573), Doma (70,545), Keana (35,094), Awe (59,206), Obi (93,486), Keffi (74,419), Kokona (53,057), Akwanga (82,075), Toto (43,792), Karu (146,450), Wamba (39,377), Nasarawa (96,358), and Nasarawa-Eggon (94,497).

Usman praised the peaceful conduct of the election and expressed gratitude to voters for their commitment to strengthening grassroots democracy. He acknowledged that, despite some voter apathy attributed to communal consensus, the turnout was strong, reflecting public confidence and the effectiveness of the commission’s efforts.
The election involved 14 political parties, demonstrating broad confidence in the process, with NASIEC utilizing technology to enhance efficiency. Usman commended the collaborative efforts of IPAC and security agencies, underscoring NASIEC’s dedication to fair and transparent elections.
The ZLP won both of its councillorship seats in Doma, while SDP’s five seats are split between Nasarawa-Eggon (four) and Keffi (one).
