On Thursday, Rwanda sent a shipment of humanitarian aid to Gaza, which has been devastated by ongoing conflict, the government confirmed.
The aid package, provided in collaboration with Jordan, included essential food supplies, medicines, and medical consumables, according to Rwanda’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In a statement, the Ministry detailed that the aid, which was received by the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization in Amman, comprises 19 tons of relief items. These include fortified food for children and critical medical supplies. Rwanda expressed its commitment to ending the conflict and prioritizing the protection of civilian lives.
The conflict has intensified since a Hamas-led attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, leading to a large-scale Israeli offensive in Gaza. This escalation has resulted in over 43,000 deaths, leaving the region in severe need of humanitarian assistance. Access to food, water, and medical care remains critically limited for Gaza’s population.
Israel is currently facing a genocide case at the International Court of Justice due to its military actions in the enclave.
