Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has announced a major cabinet reshuffle aimed at enhancing administrative efficiency and delivering better governance to the people of the state.

The shake-up, which includes the removal of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Abdullahi Bichi, and the abolition of the Chief of Staff (CoS) portfolio, was disclosed during a press briefing by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin-Tofa, on Thursday.

Governor Yusuf described the restructuring as part of his administration’s strategy to achieve “optimum performance” and ensure “more dividends of democracy” for Kano residents.

“This is the first major reshuffle of my cabinet, and it takes immediate effect,” the Governor stated. He emphasized the need for administrative realignment to better address the needs of the state.

Key Changes
The reshuffle saw the dismissal of Abdullahi Baffa Bichi as SSG, reportedly due to health concerns, and the removal of Chief of Staff Shehu Sagagi, with the CoS office now scrapped.

Retained Commissioners:

Engr. Marwan Ahmad – Commissioner for Works and Housing

Reassigned Portfolios:
Comrade Aminu Abdulssalam, the Deputy Governor, moves from the Ministry of Local Government to the Ministry of Higher Education.
Hon. Mohammad Tajo Usman assumes responsibility for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.
Dr. Yusuf Ibrahim Kofar Mata transitions from Higher Education to Science, Technology, and Innovation. Hon. Amina Abdullahi, formerly overseeing Humanitarian and Poverty Alleviation, now heads the Ministry for Women, Children, and Persons with Disabilities.
Hon. Aisha Lawal Saji moves to the Ministry of Tourism and Culture.
