Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface has rejoined Bayer Leverkusen’s training sessions as they prepare for their final Bundesliga match of the year against SC Freiburg at the BayArena on Saturday.

Boniface has been sidelined by a hamstring injury, missing the last seven games across all competitions for the defending Bundesliga champions. In his absence, head coach Xabi Alonso has turned to Patrik Schick and Nathan Tella to spearhead the attack, while Martin Terrier led the line in last weekend’s 2-0 victory over Frank Onyeka’s Augsburg.
Despite Boniface’s absence, Leverkusen have maintained a perfect record, winning all their matches and closing in on league leaders Bayern Munich, whom they now trail by just four points.

The potential return of the reigning Bundesliga Rookie of the Season provides a timely boost for Leverkusen as they aim to finish the year strongly and narrow the gap at the top of the table.
Before his injury, Boniface was in fine form, scoring eight goals and providing one assist in 15 appearances across all competitions.
While he is expected to start Saturday’s game from the bench, Boniface is likely to feature for some minutes to regain match fitness, offering a promising outlook for the Black and Reds heading into the new year.
