The Muslim Public Affairs Centre (MPAC) and allied organizations have condemned the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza, describing it as “heinous genocide” and a glaring failure of international justice.
Speaking on behalf of MPAC, Executive Chairman Disu Kamor urged the global community to take immediate action to halt Israel’s occupation and support the Palestinian cause.
Kamor highlighted the devastating toll of the conflict, citing over 45,000 deaths, 110,000 injuries, and the displacement of 2 million Palestinians in Gaza alone.
He also noted the daily aggression in the West Bank, including settlement expansions and home demolitions, as part of Israel’s systemic oppression.
“This is not just a Muslim or Palestinian cause—it is a human cause,” Kamor declared, calling on governments, citizens, and institutions worldwide to demand justice and accountability.
Demands for Immediate Action
MPAC outlined several urgent measures for governments and international organizations:
Ceasefire: An immediate end to hostilities to protect civilians and ensure humanitarian aid.
Recognition of Palestinian Statehood: Uphold Palestine’s right to self-determination, as affirmed by international law and UN resolutions.
Accountability for Israel: Impose sanctions and diplomatic consequences for alleged human rights abuses and war crimes.
Kamor further criticized Western nations for their “hypocrisy” in supporting Israel. He pointed to over 53 U.S. vetoes at the UN Security Council as evidence of complicity in shielding Israel from accountability. “The same nations that preach democracy and human rights continue to arm Israel, perpetuating oppression and violence against Palestinians,” he said.
A Universal Call for Justice
Beyond governmental action, MPAC urged the public to:
Raise awareness about the crisis in Palestine.
Support humanitarian efforts to aid affected communities.
Advocate for policy changes by contacting elected representatives.
Quoting the Quran, Kamor emphasized the Islamic imperative to stand for justice: “O you who believe, stand up for justice, even if it is against yourselves” (Quran 4:135).
He also clarified that advocating for Palestinian rights does not equate to opposing the Jewish community. “This is a stand against the policies of a Zionist state, not against any particular group,” Kamor stated, highlighting Jewish voices worldwide that also call for justice in Palestine.
A Global Struggle for Humanity
“The plight of Palestinians mirrors the struggles of oppressed people globally,” Kamor said. “This fight is a torch we must carry for freedom, dignity, and peace.”
Concluding his speech, he urged unity across all races and religions in the quest for justice, declaring: “Let us unite to uphold compassion, stability, and human rights for all. Free Palestine.”
