Muslims in Southwest Nigeria have been called upon to leverage their historical background of economic advancement to contribute significantly to the nation’s economic and political revival.
This charge was delivered during a roundtable discussion titled “The Political Economy of the Southwest”, held as part of the ongoing MICA Katiba event at the NYSC camp in Lagos.

The session brought together captains of industry and industry analysts who examined the historical role and contributions of Islam in the Southwest and deliberated on charting a sustainable path for Nigeria’s development.

Coordinated by the Executive Secretary of the Movement for Islamic Culture and Awareness (MICA), Abdulhameed Ademola Danmole, alongside Dr. Faisal Hamid, a Senior Strategy Analyst from Harvard, the dialogue emphasized the need for Muslims to actively foster a just and balanced society free from corruption and social vices.
The Roundtable Dialogue forms part of activities marking the 30th anniversary of MICA and aims to inspire a renewed commitment to nation-building among the Muslim Ummah.
