Troops of the 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army/Sector 3, Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), have apprehended a suspected Boko Haram terrorist, Nura Yakubu, in the Garba Chede community of Bali Local Government Area, Taraba State.
Acting on credible intelligence, Yakubu, a food vendor, was found to have been harboring Boko Haram terrorists deployed to the region for nefarious activities.
Further investigations linked him and his associates to the kidnapping of a businessman named Arinze and the son of Alhaji Ibrahim in the Garbatau community.
In a related development, following the kidnapping of a district head in Jalingo Local Government Area on November 27, 2024, and his subsequent release after ransom payment, troops intensified intelligence operations. This led to the arrest of Musa Suito on December 18, 2024, in Jalingo metropolis.
Suito, a vigilante group member tasked with protecting wealthy individuals, allegedly exploited his position to gather intelligence for kidnappers.
Items recovered from him included one Dane gun and two cartridges.
