English Premier League Club, Wolverhampton Wanderers have completed the signing of Stade de Reims captain, Emmanuel Agbadou on a four-and-a-half-year deal, with an option for an additional year.

The 27-year-old Ivory Coast international becomes the first signing under Wolves’ new manager, Vitor Pereira. Agbadou is known for his composure on the ball and commanding presence. After two-and-a-half standout seasons in Ligue 1, where he became a key figure for Reims, he now embarks on his Premier League journey.

Agbadou’s professional career began in Tunisia with Monastir before a move to the Belgian Pro League with Eupen, where he made 64 appearances. His switch to France saw him anchor Reims’ defense, amassing 15 appearances this season and finishing his tenure with consecutive clean sheets against Strasbourg and Monaco.

Internationally, Agbadou has become an integral part of the Ivory Coast national team, featuring in five of their six Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers and helping secure a spot in this year’s tournament.

Wolves chairman Jeff Shi expressed his excitement about Agbadou’s arrival: “We’re delighted to welcome Emmanuel to the club. He’s a player our recruitment team has tracked for a long time, and Vitor agreed he was the right fit. Completing this transfer early in the window was crucial to strengthen the squad immediately. I hope Emmanuel has a successful career at Wolves, and he’ll have the full support of everyone here.”

Sporting director, Matt Hobbs highlighted Agbadou’s qualities: “Emmanuel’s a winner, driven, and incredibly hungry after his journey so far. Wolves fans will love him because he gives everything on the pitch. On paper, he ticks all the boxes for the Premier League. Of course, there’s an adjustment period, but his physicality, speed, and leadership make him a strong fit.”

Hobbs also emphasized the importance of signing Agbadou early in the transfer window: “With so many games in January, we couldn’t afford to waste time. Securing Emmanuel quickly was a priority, and we’re thrilled with this addition. He’s a well-rounded player and natural leader whose game has elevated since becoming Reims’ captain.”

Agbadou now looks to make an impact at Molineux, adding leadership and defensive strength to Wolves’ squad as they navigate the rest of the season.
