Former Nigeria international, Julius Aghahowa has expressed hope that Eric Chelle will make a positive impact as the new head coach of the Super Eagles.

Chelle, the former Mali national team coach, was appointed as the substantive Super Eagles coach this week, a decision that has sparked mixed reactions in the Nigerian football community.

Despite the divided opinions, Aghahowa is optimistic about Chelle’s ability to succeed with the three-time African champions. “Hopefully, he’ll bring in a different kind of mentality,” Aghahowa said during an interview with Brila FM.

“We don’t have a talent problem. What I’m most interested in is how he will influence the team’s work ethic and mentality. “Our issue has always been the mentality of players coming from their clubs to represent Nigeria.”
