South Africa has temporarily shut down the Grobler’s Bridge border crossing with Botswana due to severe flooding caused by heavy rainfall.
The crossing, a vital trade route, is used extensively by miners in the Copperbelt region to transport cargo to the port of Durban.
The Border Management Authority announced the closure, citing safety concerns and consultations with Botswana authorities.
The agency advised travelers and truck operators to use alternative routes, as the crossing links Botswana with South Africa’s northern Limpopo province, which was heavily affected by rainfall last weekend.
