Workers under the Lagos State Broadcasting Corporation have called off their three-day warning strike following a meeting with government representatives on Wednesday.
The strike was organized by the joint special congress of the Radio, Television, Theatre and Arts Workers’ Union (RATTAWU) and the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), representing the interests of staff across state-owned media outlets.
The meeting, held with key government officials including the Commissioners for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, and Establishments and Training, Afolabi Ayantayo, along with Permanent Secretaries and General Managers, focused on addressing the workers’ demands.
According to Olutayo Ogunbowale, Secretary of the Special Joint Congress, the discussions culminated in a resolution to present the workers’ demands to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu at the State Executive Council Meeting scheduled for Monday, January 20, 2025.
This will determine further steps and potential approval.
In light of these developments, the unions have urged all staff members to resume duties effective Thursday, January 16, 2025.
“Let us continue to demonstrate dedication and diligence to our work while maintaining discipline,” Ogunbowale stated.
The unions also assured their members of continued efforts to ensure their demands are met and expressed gratitude for their support and cooperation during the strike.
