The elections, which took place on Saturday, saw 12 political parties contesting for chairmanship and councillorship positions. Notably, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) withdrew from the election, citing concerns over the credibility of the ODIEC.

The participating parties included:

  • Action Alliance
  • Action Democratic Party
  • Action People’s Party
  • All Progressives Congress (APC)
  • All Progressives Grand Alliance
  • Boot Party
  • Labour Party
  • National Rescue Party
  • New Nigeria Peoples Party
  • Social Democratic Party
  • Young Progressive Party
  • Zenith Labour Party

This election marks a significant development in Ondo State’s local government administration, which has been managed by civil servants since the tenure of the previously elected council officials expired on August 22, 2023.
