Yomi Adetula, the Director of Anti-Arms Smuggling for the Social Orientation and Safety (So-Safe) Corps in Ogun State, has been gruesomely murdered by suspected assassins in Idi-Iroko, Ipokia Local Government Area of the state.
Residents of Idi-Iroko reported that Pastor Adetula was attacked inside his church, located off Old Baggage Road, on Sunday morning, just minutes after 10 a.m.
According to eyewitness accounts, the gunmen stormed the church armed with firearms and other dangerous weapons. “They first shot him, but the bullets did not penetrate. “They then used other weapons, including a hammer and machete, to fatally attack him. From their actions, it was evident they were hired assassins.”

FIJ reviewed disturbing images of Adetula’s lifeless body, showing severe disfigurement, blood-stained clothes, and apparent gunshot wounds to his torso.
Adetula was among the witnesses listed by FIJ in its defense against a libel suit filed by IBD Dende. The lawsuit followed FIJ’s undercover investigation and documentary on smuggling activities, as well as a series of tweets by FIJ founder, Fisayo Soyombo under the hashtag ‘Good Morning Nigeria Customs.’
This tragic incident has sent shockwaves through the community, raising concerns about targeted violence and insecurity. More details to follow as the story develops.
