Notorious terrorist leader Bello Turji is currently fleeing for his life after the Nigerian military launched a successful operation against his group in Zamfara, killing his son and several loyalists.
The operation, conducted by troops of Operation Fansan Yamma on January 17, targeted Turji’s hideouts in Shinkafi, Kagara, Fakai, Moriki, Maiwa, and Chindo axis.
According to Major General Edward Buba, Director Defence Media Operations, the military’s intense firepower resulted in significant terrorist casualties and the destruction of their logistics hub.
The operation also rescued several kidnapped hostages held captive by Turji.
Turji’s son was killed during the operation, and the terrorist leader himself escaped, abandoning his son and combatants. The military has described Turji’s actions as a “gross cowardly act.”
In a related development, the troops destroyed another terrorist kingpin camp, known as Idi Mallam, along Zango Kagara Forest.
Three terrorists were neutralized, and three suspected collaborators were arrested.
The military also recovered weapons, rustled cattle, and sheep.
