The Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of renowned Muslim cleric Shaykh Qamar-ud-Deen Jumah Ajala, popularly known as Amir Ajala.

Amir Ajala, a revered spiritual leader, community mobilizer, and moral guide to thousands in Lagos and across Nigeria, passed away peacefully on Thursday evening.
In a statement released on Friday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Gboyega Akosile, Governor Sanwo-Olu described the cleric’s death as a significant loss to Lagos State, especially at a time when the government is collaborating with influential individuals to support youth reorientation and empowerment initiatives.

The Governor highlighted Amir Ajala’s lasting legacy within the Muslim community and beyond, noting the profound impact of his leadership and teachings.

“On behalf of my family, the people, and the Government of Lagos State, I extend heartfelt condolences to the immediate family, friends, associates, and the entire Muslim community on the passing of Shaykh Qamar-ud-Deen Jumah Ajala, fondly called Amir Ajala.
“I pray that Allah grants the late Shaykh Aljannah Firdaus and provides comfort and strength to his family, loved ones, and the Muslim community as they bear this irreparable loss.”

He was buried according to Islamic Rite on Friday Morning at the Mainland Muslim Community, Burial Ground, Mowe Ofada. The late Amir Ajala will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to faith and invaluable contributions to society. May his soul rest in peace.
