Ghana’s President John Dramani Mahama has nominated Johnson Asiamah to succeed Ernest Addison as the governor of the Bank of Ghana, subject to approval by the Council of State.
Asiamah, who previously served as the second deputy governor of the central bank from 2016 to 2017, boasts over 23 years of experience working at the Bank of Ghana, with a strong background in monetary policy.
The current governor, Ernest Addison, is set to retire at the end of March and will proceed on leave from February 3.
Asiamah’s nomination is seen as a strategic move to ensure continuity and stability in Ghana’s financial sector.
If approved, Asiamah will take the reins as the new governor, overseeing the country’s monetary policy and contributing to the promotion of financial stability.
