A group of unidentified gunmen, dressed in black and numbering up to seven, abducted Igboayaka O. Igboayaka, the President of the Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC), in Imo State on Saturday, February 8, 2025.

The incident occurred around 7 p.m. at Works Layout, Owerri, Imo State, where the gunmen, using a Sienna and a Lexus SUV, took Igboayaka to an unknown location.

Chilos Godsent, President of the Igbo National Council (INC), confirmed the abduction in a statement issued on Sunday morning, February 9, 2025.

Godsent urged the Nigeria Police Force, Imo State Command, to take immediate action to rescue Igboayaka and bring the perpetrators to justice.

Igboayaka’s family is reportedly still in shock over the incident.

The Igbo National Council (INC) has called on the police to investigate the abduction and make their findings public.
