Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni has appointed Michael Atingi-Ego as the new Governor of the Bank of Uganda, with Augustus Nuwagaba as his Deputy.
Atingi-Ego, who has been serving as the acting head of the bank since 2022, previously worked for the central bank in a senior position before returning in 2020 as Deputy Governor.
Nuwagaba, an economics professor at Makerere University, brings valuable expertise to the central bank’s leadership team.
Their appointments are subject to parliamentary approval.
