Germany-based Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement (BSM) has expanded its presence in West Africa with the launch of a new Maritime Training Centre (MTC) in Ghana.
The center is located on the Regional Maritime University (RMU) campus in Accra, this facility marks BSM’s sixth training institution globally.
BSM first established a local representative office in Ghana in 2012 and has since created officer positions to support the region’s maritime workforce. The new centre will provide specialized training for cadets, officers, and ratings, including courses tailored for hospitality roles on cruise ships.

Eva Rodriguez, BSM’s HR Marine Director, emphasized the company’s commitment to developing highly skilled seafarers. “This training centre is a significant step in expanding our training offerings to regional seafarers while meeting the growing demand for skilled crew,” she stated.
Since launching training operations in Africa in 2012, BSM has grown its West African seafarer workforce from fewer than 30 to over 600. The company’s MTCs are certified to 2015 standards and offer DNV-approved simulator training, focusing on operational, safety, and environmental requirements for a rapidly evolving maritime industry.
