Chief Edwin Clark, a prominent Ijaw leader and elder statesman, has passed away at the age of 96. The news of his demise was confirmed by his family in a brief statement released on Tuesday, February 18, 2025.

The statement, signed by his brother, Prof. C. C. Clark, and his son, Penawei Clark, on behalf of the family, read: “The Clark-Fuludu Bekederemo family of Kiagbodo Town, Delta State, wishes to announce the passing of Chief (Dr.) Sen. Edwin Kiagbodo Clark, OFR, CON, on Monday, February 17, 2025. The family appreciates your prayers at this time. Other details will be announced later by the family.”
