A coordinated military operation by the Nigerian Army’s 17 Brigade, Katsina, and the Air Component of Operation Hadarin Daji has successfully neutralized a notorious bandit kingpin, Kamilu Chiroma, also known as Buzaro, along with several of his gang members. The operation took place at Dargaza Hill, Maidabino B Ward, Danmusa Local Government Area of Katsina State.
According to intelligence sources, the offensive, launched in the early hours of February 17, was based on actionable intelligence that Buzaro and his fighters had established fortified defensive positions around the hills, armed with sophisticated weapons and prepared to ambush security forces. Recognizing the threat, an Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) platform was deployed to monitor their movements, confirming their locations and combat readiness.
Once the intelligence was verified, ground forces halted their advance while fighter jets launched precise airstrikes on the hideout. The bombardment caught the criminals off guard, eliminating a significant number of Buzaro’s fighters and destroying several of their motorcycles and weapons.
Following the aerial assault, ground troops moved in swiftly to clear the area, engaging any remaining threats and securing the location. Military officials hailed the operation as a resounding success, noting that it dealt a major blow to banditry in the region.
“This mission was very successful, significantly weakening bandit activities in the area,” a senior military official stated.
The Nigerian Army, in collaboration with the Nigerian Air Force and other security agencies, has intensified its counter-banditry operations across the Northwest, targeting key criminal hideouts responsible for attacks on communities. Security forces remain on high alert to prevent retaliatory attacks and ensure sustained pressure on armed groups operating in the region.
