Egypt has delivered its first shipment of mobile homes to Gaza, marking a significant breakthrough in the ongoing ceasefire agreement with Israel.
According to local media reports, five trucks carrying 15 mobile homes and a bulldozer crossed the Rafah border into the Kerem Shalom terminal, awaiting final clearance for entry into Gaza.
This development comes after weeks of Israel refusing to allow mobile homes into Gaza, despite the ceasefire agreement. The refusal left many displaced Palestinians exposed to harsh winter conditions.
However, mediation efforts ultimately led to Israel agreeing to permit the shelters.
The ceasefire and prisoner exchange deal, implemented last month, has temporarily halted Israel’s military campaign, which has had devastating consequences for Gaza, including nearly 48,300 Palestinian casualties, mostly women and children, and widespread destruction.
