Nigeria’s Flying Eagles secured a commanding 2-0 victory over Côte d’Ivoire’s Young Elephants in a friendly match on Wednesday evening at the Stade Félix Houphouët Boigny in Abidjan.

Captain Daniel Bameyi opened the scoring from the penalty spot, while Divine Oliseh doubled the lead, sealing an impressive away win for the Nigerian U-20 side.
The friendly is part of the Flying Eagles’ preparations for the upcoming U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), where they will compete in Group B alongside Egypt, South Africa, and Morocco. Host nation Côte d’Ivoire, meanwhile, will face DR Congo, Ghana, Tanzania, and a UNIFFAC representative in Group A.

The Flying Eagles will meet Côte d’Ivoire again at the same venue on Friday, with another victory set to further boost their confidence ahead of the continental tournament.

With the U-20 AFCON scheduled from April 26 to May 18 in Côte d’Ivoire, Nigeria will be closely watched as one of the top contenders, aiming to secure an eighth title.
