Chief Executive Officer of Remo Stars Football Club, Kunle Soname, has pledged N2.5 million to Nigeria’s U-17 women’s team, the Flamingos, as they gear up for their FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup qualifier against South Africa.
The team is currently training at the Remo Stars facilities in Ikenne, Ogun State, in preparation for their first-leg clash at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Pretoria.

Soname made the donation on Wednesday after watching the Flamingos play a 1-1 draw against Beyond Limits Football Academy. Impressed by their performance, he praised the young players for their resilience and fighting spirit.
“I’m very happy with the Flamingos’ performance against Beyond Limits. They’ve achieved what my senior team couldn’t, and with this display, I believe they will do well in South Africa,” Soname said.
As a further show of support, he rewarded the team with N500,000 for their strong display in the friendly match. He also promised N1 million if they win in South Africa and another N1 million for victory in the return leg on March 13 at the Remo Stars Sports Stadium.

Speaking to the players and officials, Soname encouraged them to give their best, reminding them that Nigeria remains Africa’s top women’s footballing nation and one of the best in the world.
With his financial support and words of encouragement, the Flamingos will be aiming to make Nigeria proud as they head into the crucial qualifier.
