A 42-year-old Angolan businessman, Mbala Abuba, has been arrested by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport in Kano.

Abuba was caught attempting to traffic cocaine to Istanbul, Turkey, after a body scan revealed he had ingested illicit drugs.

The suspect excreted 120 pellets of cocaine, weighing 1.829 kilograms, in seven rounds, after being placed under observation.

Abuba claimed he was a township delivery services provider in Angola before venturing into the illicit drug trade.

In related operations, the NDLEA also thwarted attempts to smuggle cocaine concealed in vehicle propellers to Angola, seized 128 parcels of Canadian Loud cannabis hidden in mattresses at the Tincan Seaport in Lagos, and destroyed over 50,000kg of illicit cannabis crops in Delta State.
