Clashes between the M23 rebel group and pro-Congo militias continue to escalate in eastern Congo, particularly in Nyabiondo, located about 100 km north of Goma.
This follows a deadly attack last week that left numerous civilians dead.
Reports indicate that M23, backed by Rwanda, seized Nyabiondo earlier today after launching a large-scale assault.
The rebel group has been advancing across mineral-rich territories since the start of the year, with plans to increase their influence and revenue through resource control.
Tensions in the region remain high, with fears of further violence and displacement.
