RS Berkane have made history by winning their first-ever Moroccan league title after a 1-1 draw against Ittihad Touarga on Saturday night. The result, secured in the 25th round of the season, confirmed Berkane as champions with 60 points—establishing an unassailable 15-point lead over second-placed FAR Rabat with five matches still to play.

Berkane’s dominant campaign saw them record 18 wins, six draws, and just one defeat against Fath Union Sportive. Their consistency and resilience throughout the season ensured they remained ahead of their rivals, cementing their status as the best team in Moroccan football this year.
In the decisive match, Berkane faced a determined Ittihad Touarga side in a tense first half. However, they broke the deadlock in the 66th minute when Oussama Melioui found the net, courtesy of an assist from Mohamed Al-Morabit. Despite conceding an equaliser later in the game, the single point was enough to seal their historic league triumph.
Melioui, one of the standout performers of Berkane’s campaign, reflected on the team’s journey, saying: “The title did not come easily; it was the result of hard work. I thank the managers and the fans who have supported us since the first round.”

The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) congratulated RS Berkane on their landmark achievement. FRMF president Fouzi Lekjaa praised the club in an official statement:
“On behalf of the Executive Board, I extend my congratulations to Renaissance Sportive de Berkane for winning the Professional League title for the first time in their history.”
The statement also commended Berkane’s impressive season, highlighting their dominant 15-point lead at the top of the table.
Following the final whistle, Melioui expressed his pride in the team’s accomplishment: “It’s an honour to achieve one of my goals with Nahdat Berkane. Today we will celebrate the title, and then we will turn the page and continue working match after match.”
With five matches remaining, Berkane will now shift their focus to finishing the season on a high note while preparing for their debut campaign in the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League next season. Their historic triumph marks the beginning of a new chapter for the club as they aim to build on their success on the continental stage.
