A fuel tanker explosion in Kontagora, Niger State, on Sunday caused widespread panic among residents and motorists, but fortunately, no casualties were recorded

The incident occurred near AA Rano, directly opposite Kontagora General Hospital. Eyewitnesses reported that the tanker suddenly burst into flames, sending thick black smoke into the sky and creating a tense atmosphere in the area.
Emergency responders, including firefighters, arrived swiftly at the scene, working to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby buildings and structures. Despite the intensity of the blaze, only the tanker was destroyed, and no additional property damage was reported.
Speaking on the incident, Hussaini Ibrahim, Director of Information at the Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA), reassured the public that the situation was under control.
He confirmed to Channels Television that no lives were lost and that emergency teams had effectively contained the fire.

Authorities have yet to determine the exact cause of the explosion, but preliminary reports suggest a possible mechanical fault or fuel leakage may have triggered the incident.
