At least 50 foreign nationals reportedly escaped from captivity in Lombardy East, north of Johannesburg, on Wednesday.
According to reports, the individuals fled from a house in the area, where they were allegedly being held hostage.
Police arrived at the scene and have launched an investigation into the incident. However, no arrests have been made, and the whereabouts of both the escapees and their captors remain unknown.

Authorities suspect the incident is linked to human trafficking, though Gauteng police have yet to issue a detailed statement.
This is not the first such case in the area. In January, police rescued 15 Ethiopian nationals who were being held against their will in a suspected human trafficking operation in Lombardy East. During that operation, 11 victims were hospitalized, while several others—many found unclothed—managed to escape.
