President Bola Tinubu has taken a significant step towards promoting regional development by signing the South-West and South-South Development Commission bills into law.
This move is expected to drive economic growth, infrastructure development, and job creation in the respective regions.
The new commissions are modeled after the existing Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and the recently approved South-East Development Commission.
They will focus on accelerating economic activities and infrastructural projects in their respective regions, with the ultimate goal of ensuring that no region is left behind in Nigeria’s development journey.
Senator Basheer Lado, Special Adviser to the President on Senate Matters, described the signing of the bills as a “historic achievement” and a testament to President Tinubu’s commitment to regional development and economic growth.
The Nigeria Anti-Doping Bill, 2025, was also signed into law, demonstrating Nigeria’s commitment to fairness, excellence, and integrity in global sports.
