U.S. Conducts Airstrikes Against ISIS-Somalia in Coordination with Somali Government

The United States Africa Command (AFRICOM) carried out multiple airstrikes against ISIS-Somalia on March 25, 2025, in coordination with the Federal Government of Somalia.

The strikes targeted locations in the Golis Mountains, Somalia. According to AFRICOM’s initial assessment, multiple ISIS-Somalia operatives were killed, with no civilian casualties reported.

ISIS-Somalia has demonstrated both the intent and capability to attack U.S. and partner forces, posing a significant threat to U.S. security interests. In response, AFRICOM continues to work alongside the Somali government and armed forces to disrupt the group’s ability to plan and execute attacks against the U.S., its forces, and its citizens abroad.

To maintain operational security, specific details of the mission have not been disclosed.
