The Federal Government and Edo State Government have established a joint fact-finding committee to investigate the recent killing of 16 Kano-bound travelers in Uromi, Edo State.
This move comes after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu expressed his displeasure over the incident and vowed to ensure the safety and security of all citizens.
Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State revealed that the committee will probe the circumstances surrounding the killings and work towards finding a lasting solution.
During a meeting with a Kano State delegation led by Deputy Governor Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo, Okpebholo emphasized the need for transparency and accountability in the investigation process.
The Kano State government has submitted a report detailing the incident, including the names, numbers, and next of kin of those affected.
The report is expected to guide the committee’s investigation and ensure justice for the victims’ families.
The incident has sparked concerns about security in the region, with both governments committed to addressing the issue.
The committee’s findings and recommendations are expected to be made public, and the governments have assured the community of their commitment to preventing similar incidents in the future.
