A tragic fire outbreak occurred on Monday at an Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp in Damasak, Borno State, destroying shelters and leaving several families without belongings.
Eyewitnesses said the fire started in the early hours of the day and quickly spread due to the makeshift nature of the tents and strong winds in the area.
Though no fatalities have been officially confirmed as of press time, many residents have lost what little they had.
The cause of the fire remains unknown, but emergency response teams have been deployed to assess the extent of the damage and provide relief to the affected.
