Zanzibar is in mourning following the death of its Government Chief Spokesperson, Charles Hillary, who passed away after a brief illness.

Hillary was appointed in 2023 by President Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi played a pivotal role in shaping the Zanzibar government’s public communication strategy. Before assuming this role, he served as the Director of Presidential Communications from 2021, overseeing the coordination of official messaging from the presidency.
