A dramatic confrontation erupted during a town hall meeting in Port Harcourt when supporters of FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and suspended Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara clashed.
The incident occurred when the President General of Grassroots Development Initiative (GDI), Bright Amaewhule, made comments perceived as provocative, praising GDI’s role in Fubara’s emergence as governor and criticizing those who now surround him.
The Rivers Labor Party Chairman, Hilda Dokubo, walked out in protest, but later returned after being persuaded by organizers.
The situation escalated when another speaker, Mr. Kenwell Ibanibo, responded to Amaewhule’s comments, prompting Wike supporters to interject and leading to a heated exchange.
The tense situation was eventually calmed after Ibanibo temporarily left the stage, allowing the meeting to continue.
