Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan has cautioned Kenyan activists against interfering in her country’s internal affairs, warning that she will not tolerate external efforts to undermine Tanzania’s peace and stability.
Her comments come after several prominent Kenyan lawyers and rights campaigners were deported or blocked from attending the court case of opposition leader Tundu Lissu, who is facing treason charges.
Lissu’s court appearance was marked by a heavy security presence, and his supporters gathered outside the court, showing solidarity.
The case has sparked concerns about the Tanzanian government’s increasing crackdown on opposition ahead of October elections.
President Samia emphasized her commitment to protecting Tanzania’s stability, stating that she would not allow individuals who have “spoiled their countries” to enter Tanzania and spread indiscipline.
