Nigeria’s Flying Eagles have been drawn in Group F alongside Colombia, Saudi Arabia, and Norway for the 24th edition of the FIFA U-20 World Cup, which is set to take place in Chile from September 27 to October 19, 2025.

The official draw was conducted at the Machasa Studios of Chilevisión in Santiago, with Chilean broadcaster Javiera Naranjo hosting and FIFA’s Director of Tournaments, Jaime Yarza, joined by former Argentina captain Juan Pablo Sorín, handling the draw proceedings.

Nigeria, one of four African nations to qualify for this year’s tournament, will be joined by continental champions South Africa (Group E), Morocco (Group C), and Egypt (Group A) in the 24-nation showdown. Matches will be held across four Chilean cities: Santiago, Rancagua, Valparaíso, and Talca.
This marks the second time Chile will host the tournament, having first done so in 1987. That edition saw Yugoslavia defeat West Germany in a dramatic final to claim the trophy.

For Nigeria’s Flying Eagles, this tournament presents another chance to chase a maiden U-20 World Cup title. The team has previously reached the final twice — in 1989, losing to Portugal, and in 2005, when a Lionel Messi-led Argentina denied them victory.
Currently the WAFU B champions and bronze medalists at the 2023 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations, the Flying Eagles, coached by Aliyu Zubairu, head to Chile with confidence and momentum.

However, they face a tough test in Group F. Colombia, known for their physicality and technical flair, are seasoned competitors at youth level. Norway bring strong tactical organisation and are growing in stature in European football, while Saudi Arabia’s fast, disciplined style makes them a formidable opponent.
With a rich pedigree and passionate support, the Flying Eagles will be eyeing a breakthrough performance in Chile. Their campaign in Group F could set the tone for a historic run.
