Atalanta winger Ademola Lookman on Friday formally presented his CAF Player of the Year award to Nigeria’s President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, during the president’s visit to Lagos.

The ceremony took place at the Lagos State Government House, with prominent dignitaries in attendance, including Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Chairman of the National Sports Commission Mallam Shehu Dikko, and President Tinubu’s Senior Special Assistant on Grassroots Sports Development, Adeyinka Adeboye.

Lookman, who returned to Nigeria earlier this week following the conclusion of the 2024/25 Serie A season, was honored as Africa’s best player at the CAF Awards held in Marrakech, Morocco, in December 2024. He also visited the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwoolu and Oba of Lagos.

The 27-year-old had a stellar year for both club and country. He played a key role in Nigeria’s silver-medal run at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire, scoring three goals and providing an assist across seven matches.
He was also pivotal in Atalanta’s historic UEFA Europa League triumph, netting a sensational hat-trick in the final against Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen. Across all competitions this season, Lookman recorded an impressive 20 goals and seven assists in 40 appearances for the Italian side.
The visit to President Tinubu marked another proud moment for Lookman, who continues to be celebrated as one of Africa’s brightest football stars.
