Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has announced the arrival of three brand-new train sets, comprising a total of 12 coaches, for the Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) Blue Line.

The newly delivered trains are expected to significantly improve service on the Blue Line, particularly as work progresses on the second phase of the project, which will extend the line from Mile 2 to Okokomaiko. The extension is scheduled for completion in 2026.

In a statement shared on social media, Governor Sanwo-Olu said the development will reduce wait times and enhance the overall commuting experience for residents.

“This means shorter wait times and more comfortable trips for everyone using the Blue Line. It’s a step forward in our efforts to make daily commute in Lagos less stressful and more reliable,” he said.

The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to completing the Blue Line extension and transforming public transportation in the state.

“Work is ongoing to extend the Blue Line all the way to Okokomaiko, and we’re aiming to finish that by 2026. I know it’s been a long time coming, but I truly believe we’re building something that will change how we move around this city for the better,” he added.

Sanwo-Olu also thanked Lagosians for their patience and optimism, saying, “We’re getting there, together.”
